BLIND FLANGE
Structural Features:
A solid disk flange with no center bore, used to terminate the end of a piping system or pressure vessel opening.
Provides full sealing capability against pressure and flow.
Often includes bolt holes and standard flange face types for compatibility.
Available in RF / RTJ / FF types.
Welding Method:
Can be welded directly to a pipe or bolted to another flange.
When used with gaskets and bolts, it forms a tight, leak-proof seal.
No internal flow, as it functions solely as a seal or cover.
Applications:
Used for:
Isolating systems during maintenance or inspection
Sealing off dead-end pipes
Pressure testing line integrity
Equipment manways or nozzle covers
Widely used in:
Oil & Gas
Chemical & Petrochemical
Water Treatment
Power Generation
Marine & Offshore
Common Size Standards:
ASME B16.5: ½” – 24”
ASME B16.47: 24” and above
Pressure Ratings:
150#, 300#, 600#, 900#, 1500#, 2500#
(Excellent pressure containment due to solid structure)
Flange Face Types:
RF (Raised Face)
RTJ (Ring-Type Joint)
FF (Flat Face)
Materials:
Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Special Alloys
Recommendation:
Blind flanges are essential for any piping system that requires complete closure at the end of a line.
They offer high sealing performance, structural integrity, and easy future access.
Highly recommended for systems under high pressure or requiring periodic inspection or expansion.
